Patron saint of those who need courage, those in danger or suffering persecution, orphans, and all who intercede for others
Queen Esther Novena
Queen Esther was the Jewish orphan raised by her cousin Mordecai who became queen of Persia and, at the peril of her life, went uninvited before King Ahasuerus to save her people from destruction. The Church has long seen in her a figure of the Virgin Mary, who intercedes for us before the King of Heaven. Pray this novena for courage, for deliverance from danger and persecution, and for the favor you most need.

Day 1
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
O holy Queen Esther, chosen by God from among the daughters of thy people and raised up for such a time as this, look with kindness upon us who now seek thy intercession.
Thou didst lay aside thy royal garments, cover thy head with ashes, and humble thy soul with fasting and prayer, crying out to the Lord who alone was thy King and thy helper. Thou didst go in to the king at the peril of thy life, saying, “If I perish, I perish,” and by thy courage and thy pleading God delivered thy people from death.
Obtain for us, we beseech thee, a lively faith in the providence of God, the grace to pray with humility and perseverance, and the courage to do His will whatever it may cost us. Intercede for all who are in danger, for all who suffer persecution, and for all who have no other helper but God.
As the king held out his golden sceptre to thee and granted thy petition, so may the King of Heaven, through thy intercession and the far greater intercession of Mary, our Queen, of whom thou wast a figure, hear the prayer which we now humbly lay before Him
(mention request here…)
if it be for His greater glory and the good of our souls. Amen.
