St. Dismas Novena
St. Dismas is the thief crucified at the right hand of Jesus, who rebuked his fellow criminal, confessed his own guilt, and asked only to be remembered. He received in answer the surest promise ever given to a sinner, This day thou shalt be with me in Paradise. Tradition gives him the name Dismas, and the Church keeps his feast on the twenty-fifth of March. He is the patron of prisoners and the condemned, and the hope of every soul that fears it has repented too late. Pray this novena for prisoners, for the dying, for a good confession, for the grace of final repentance, and for the favor you most need.

You who opened the Heart of Jesus in mercy and forgiveness even before the centurion’s spear tore it asunder; you whose face was close to that of Jesus in His last agony, to offer Him a word of comfort; you who knew how to pray, teach me the words to say to gain pardon for my sins.
And you who are close to Him now in Heaven, pray to Him for me that I shall never again desert Him, but that at the close of my life I may hear the words He addressed to you: “This day thou shalt be with Me in Paradise.”
