Patron saint of rulers and leaders, the childless, the disabled, those rejected by religious orders, Benedictine oblates, and the city and Archdiocese of Bamberg
St. Henry II Novena (Holy Roman Emperor)
St. Henry II (973-1024) was Duke of Bavaria, King of Germany, and Holy Roman Emperor, the only German emperor to be canonized. With his wife St. Cunigunde he founded the Diocese and Cathedral of Bamberg, supported the reform of the Church, and once asked to become a monk, until the abbot ordered him under obedience to remain on the throne and govern as a servant of God. Pray this novena for leaders, for holiness in the midst of worldly duties, and for the favor you most need.

Day 1
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Lord, you filled Saint Henry with your love
and raised him from the cares of an earthly kingdom
to eternal happiness in heaven.
In the midst of the changes of this world,
may his prayers keep us free from sin
and help us on our way towards you.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
O God, whose abundant grace prepared Saint Henry
to be raised by you in a wonderful way
from the cares of earthly rule to heavenly realms,
grant, we pray, through his intercession,
that amid the uncertainties of this world
we may hasten towards you with minds made pure.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

O God, who didst this day (July 13) remove blessed Henry
Thy confessor from his earthly throne to an eternal kingdom:
we humbly beseech Thee, that as by the assistance of Thy grace,
he was proof against all the temptations of the world,
so we may follow his example in withstanding
all the flatteries of this world,
and serve Thee with clean hearts.
Through Christ our Lord.
