God of mercy, You chose a tax collector, Saint Matthew, to share the dignity of the Apostles.
In doing so, You showed us that with You, all things are possible, and that though we are sinners, we too can answer Your noble call to evangelize the world.
By St Matthew’s example and prayers help us to follow Christ and remain faithful in Your service.
In particular we ask, through his intercession, for (mention request here…)

Dear Saint Matthew, in your Gospel you portray Jesus as the longed-for Messiah who fulfilled the Prophets of the Old Covenant and as the new Lawgiver who founded the Church of the New Covenant.
Obtain for us the grace to see Jesus living in His Church and to follow His teachings in our lives on earth, so that we may live forever with Him in heaven.
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory Be

“My dearest St. Matthew, 🤍 Thank you for these nine days and for becoming a new friend in Heaven. Before this novena, I knew your name and your story, but I had never really prayed to you this way. Now I feel that I know you a little more, and I hope this is only the beginning of our friendship. Thank you for reminding me of the moment Jesus called you: “Follow me.” Your courage to leave what you knew and follow Him has stayed with me. Thank you for bringing my intentions before Jesus. Some answered prayers are too personal to share, but you know, St. Matthew. Between the two of us, you know. 🤍 Please keep teaching me to follow Jesus with trust, to begin again when He calls me to, and to remember that He can make something beautiful out of an ordinary life. I’m grateful to have discovered…”
