Exemplary Mother of the Great Augustine, you perserveringly pursued your wayward son not with wild threats but with prayerful cries to heaven.
Intercede for all mothers in our day so that they may learn to draw their children to God. Teach them how to remain close to their children, even the prodigal sons and daughters who have sadly gone astray.

Dear St Monica, troubled wife and mother, many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime. Yet you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence and profound faith, you prayed daily for the conversion of your beloved husband, Patricius and your beloved son, Augustine.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience and trust in the Lord. Intercede for me, dear St. Monica, that God may favorably hear my plea for
(mention request here…)
And grant me the grace to accept his will in all things, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.

“My adult son had wanted to move in with us to save money and be able to pay off his bills. But we asked what he would do then? Where would he go? Would he get a new job or pursue what he was doing? He had no answers. I prayed to St. Monica and last Sunday he told us he found a way to cut costs, move in with a couple of other Catholic friends and felt that would be his best option! Prayers answered for maturity and self sufficiency! Gratitude to St. Monica and our Lord! 🙏🏻”

“My dearest St. Monica, On your feast day, I want to thank you from the deepest part of my heart. I came to you with something very close to my heart, and you knew exactly why. You understood the love behind every prayer and everything I quietly placed in your care. Thank you for teaching me that sometimes the greatest act of love is to keep praying while surrendering the people we love completely to God. Your life has reminded me that waiting does not mean God is doing nothing, and that a prayer offered with love is never wasted. Thank you for teaching me patience when I want answers, hope when I cannot see what lies ahead, and trust when all I can do is place someone I love in God's hands. Please continue to keep everything I entrusted to you close to your heart. Help me love gently and…”

More About St Monica
St. Monica was born in AD 332 in North Africa. She married a pagan man named Patricius, who by all accounts had a violent temper. He was unsympathetic to St. Monica’s Catholic faith.
St. Monica’s son was St. Augustine, but he rejected Christ and the Church for many years, living a life of sensuality and hedonism. After long years of St. Monica’s prayers, St. Augustine was converted to Christ and became one of the greatest Doctors of the Church.
She is the patroness of wives and abuse victims.
