St Priscilla Novena
St Priscilla, a noble Roman matron of the first century, opened her family’s estate on the Via Salaria as a refuge for the persecuted Church and as a burial place for the holy dead. From beneath her land arose the Catacombs of Priscilla, which sheltered popes and martyrs and preserved some of the earliest Christian art. Pray this novena for love and marriage, for hidden generosity, and for the courage of daily fidelity to Christ.

In Honor of Priscilla’s Welcome of the Persecuted
Saint Priscilla, in an age when to shelter a Christian was to court death, you opened the estates of your family on the Via Salaria as a refuge for the faithful. You did not count the cost of your charity, nor weigh the danger against your comfort. Teach us, we pray, to receive Christ in the stranger, the suffering, and the outcast, without calculation and without fear.

Saint Priscilla, history has preserved little of your name and less of your deeds, yet the catacombs that bear your name stand as a silent witness more eloquent than any chronicle. You were content to serve without record or renown, laboring for God in the obscurity that the saints call home. Saint Priscilla, the ancient Church in Rome sheltered her dead and celebrated her mysteries in the galleries beneath your land, and from those sacred depths arose popes and martyrs who shaped the faith of the world. Saint Priscilla, you understood what so many forget: that wealth is not a possession but a trust, and that the goods of this world are given to us for the relief of our neighbor and the glory of God. In Honor of the Holy Dead Entrusted to Priscilla’s Care
Saint Priscilla, in the catacombs beneath your estate rest the bodies of countless martyrs and faithful souls who await the resurrection. You provided for their burial when the Church was too poor and too hunted to build monuments. Remember before God all the faithful departed, especially those for whom no one prays and those whose graves are forgotten. May they rest in the light of Christ until the great morning of the resurrection.

Saint Priscilla, noble servant of the early Church, we come to the close of this novena with confidence in your intercession before God. You gave what you had, land, security, home, and from that gift arose a Church that has never ceased to bear witness to the Resurrection.
