St Timothy Novena
St Timothy was the youthful and trusted companion of the Apostle Paul, who called him his beloved child in the Lord. He served as the first Bishop of Ephesus and was martyred there for preaching against the worship of Diana. Pray this novena for sound doctrine, holy courage in ministry, devotion to the word of God, and the favor you most need.

Day 1
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
O glorious Saint Timothy, beloved disciple and faithful companion of the great Apostle Paul, bishop and martyr, we come before thee with humble and confident hearts, trusting in thy powerful intercession before the throne of Almighty God. Thou didst receive the faith from thy mother Eunice and thy grandmother Lois, women of sincere and living faith, and thou didst so correspond with the grace given to thee that thou becamest one of the most trusted servants of the apostolic mission. Look down upon us, thy devoted clients, and present our petitions to the Lord whom thou didst serve with such fidelity and love.
O Saint Timothy, Paul called thee his beloved child in the Lord, his brother, and his fellow worker, and wrote of thee that thou hadst no equal in genuine care for the souls entrusted to thy keeping. Obtain for us, we beseech thee, that same spirit of sincere and selfless charity, that we may seek not our own interests but the things of Christ Jesus, serving our neighbors with true devotion and without thought of earthly reward.
O holy bishop of Ephesus, thou wast charged by the Apostle to guard the deposit of faith, to fight the good fight, and to hold fast to sound doctrine in the face of those who would corrupt or undermine it. In an age when the truths of the faith are contested and obscured on every side, intercede for us that we may know, love, and defend the teaching of holy Church with courage and clarity, never shrinking from the truth out of human respect or fear.
O faithful Timothy, Paul exhorted thee not to let anyone despise thy youth, and he urged thee again and again to boldness in the exercise of thy ministry. Pray for us in our own moments of timidity and discouragement, when the weight of our duties seems beyond our strength and when we are tempted to draw back from what God asks of us. Obtain for us the grace of holy courage, that we may take up the work God has given us and carry it forward with confidence in His mercy and His power.
O Timothy, man of prayer and of the scriptures, Paul reminded thee that from thy childhood thou hadst known the sacred writings, which are able to make one wise for salvation. Kindle in our hearts a deep and abiding love for the word of God, that we may read it with faith, meditate upon it with devotion, and allow it to shape our minds and hearts after the likeness of Christ.
O glorious martyr, thou didst at last seal thy witness to the faith with the shedding of thy blood, dying at the hands of those who refused the Gospel thou didst preach. As thou didst not count thy life more dear than thy fidelity to Christ, pray for us that we may hold the faith above every earthly consideration, and that when the hour of trial comes we may be found steadfast and unafraid.
O Saint Timothy, patron of all who labor in the service of the Church, of bishops and priests and deacons and all those charged with the care of souls, present before God the needs of His holy Church in this our day. Obtain for her faithful shepherds after the heart of Christ, sound in doctrine, fervent in charity, and courageous in the defense of truth. And for each of us who makes this novena, obtain the particular grace we seek, if it be according to the holy will of God and for the good of our immortal souls.
