Patron saint of Christian married couples, newlyweds, and those who suffer persecution for the faith
Sts. Timothy and Maura Novena
Sts. Timothy and Maura were newlyweds, married only twenty days, who were arrested, tortured, and crucified side by side for their faith in Christ around the year 286. Facing each other on their crosses, they strengthened one another to the end. Pray this novena for holy marriages, courage in suffering, steadfast faith, and the favor you most need.

Day 1
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
O holy martyrs Timothy and Maura, newlyweds joined in Christ and made one in His love, you were bound together not only by the vows of marriage but by a shared and burning love for the Lord, for whom you gave up your lives. In the days of your trial you did not weaken one another with fear, but strengthened one another with courage, until you were crucified side by side, each comforting the other as you glorified God. Look down upon us who honor your memory, and present our prayers before the throne of the Most High.
You accepted many humiliations and endured crucifixion, and so you deserved to be crowned by God, great and praiseworthy Timothy and Maura, one in Christ. Intercede with the Lord for us, that we may worthily celebrate your most pure memory, that He may grant peace to our land and our people, for He is a mighty stronghold for the faithful.
O Saint Timothy, faithful reader of the sacred books, who would not surrender the word of God into unholy hands even at the cost of your life, obtain for us a deep and abiding love for the Holy Scriptures, and the courage to hold fast to the truth of the faith when it is despised or forbidden. O Saint Maura, who in the midst of your own torments prayed for those who tormented you, teach us to forgive those who wrong us, and to love our enemies as Christ commanded.
O holy couple, patrons of Christian marriage, watch over all husbands and wives. Grant to the married the grace to encourage one another in holiness, to bear their sufferings together with patience, and to help one another along the narrow road that leads to eternal life. Be near to newlyweds beginning their life together, and to all who prepare for marriage, that their homes may be built upon Christ. And remember, we beseech you, our brothers and sisters throughout the world who even now suffer and die for the name of Jesus.
Confident in your powerful intercession, we lay before you the particular favor we now ask through your prayers.
(mention request here…)
Obtain this for us, we pray, if it be for the greater glory of God and the good of our souls; and above all obtain for us the grace to love Christ as you loved Him, faithful even unto death.
Amen.

Hail Mary
