St. Paschal Baylon Novena
St. Paschal Baylon (1540-1592) was born on Pentecost to a poor Aragonese family and kept sheep from the age of seven, teaching himself to read by carrying a book into the fields and asking passers-by to name the letters. He entered the Alcantarine Franciscans as a lay brother, refused the priesthood, and spent his life as porter, cook and beggar, passing whole nights before the Blessed Sacrament. Sent through France on an errand he was stoned by Huguenots for defending the Real Presence. He died on Pentecost, as he was born. Pray this novena for love of the Eucharist, for the poor and hardworking, and for the favor you most need.
