St Raymond Nonnatus, named ‘not born’ because he was delivered by Caesarean after his mother’s death, became a Mercedarian friar who ransomed Christian captives in North Africa and offered himself as a hostage when his money ran out. Pray this novena for the protection of mothers and children, for those wrongly accused, and for the grace of perseverance under trial.
