Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich Novena
Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) was born to a poor farming family in Westphalia and worked as a farmhand and seamstress before a convent would finally receive her. When her monastery was suppressed she was left destitute, and in 1812 she received the wounds of Christ in her hands, feet and side. From 1813 until her death she never left her bed, examined by Church and civil commissions, exposed to the curiosity of strangers, and living for years on almost nothing but Holy Communion. She offered every pain for the Church, for sinners, and for the holy souls. Pray this novena for the sick and the housebound, for patience in long suffering, for love of the Passion, and for the favor you most need.
